Pancakes and Donghae Yonggung-Sa Temple

Pancakes, Pancakes, Pancakes! I could not wait for Sunday to arrive for a pancake breakfast! It has been along time since I have consumed pancakes or a western breakfast for that matter! Rice is what is on the menu for breakfast in Korean. If I ask my students what they had for breakfast I am 100% positive they will all say rice with some sort of soup or meat! Which does not sound the least bit appetizing to me for breakfast! We went to a pancake breakfast for foreigners that had been in Busan less than two months! The breakfast was tasty that included pancakes, scrambled eggs, hash browns and sausage. It was nice to have breakfast with a bunch of familiar faces on Easter! What really made my day was when we headed out of the apartment some ladies were dressed in traditional Korean dresses and gave Justin and I each a bag of two boiled Easter eggs. It was so sweet! The Korean tradition is to give others eggs on Easter. When I told my co-teacher about egg hunting she was very confused! Her response “Why would you want to hunt for the eggs, I don’t understand?”

After our breakfast we headed to the Donghae Yonggung- Sa temple with some friends. This was my first Easter at a Buddhist temple. The temple is set against a hillside on a rocky shoreline right at the water's edge.

Love those leg warmers!

WHAT?? Buddha's booty!

Year of the rat!

Happy pigs!

They cherry blossoms are blooming!

For Easter dinner we had black sesame noodles.
