I will tell you what, these kids officially have me wrapped around their little fingers, all 1000+ of them. I had the 4th graders role play today and I wish I had a video camera they were so cute. The play was called "The farmer and the radish". They are learning the key expressions "Can you help me?", "Sure I can" or "Sorry, I can't". The farmer needed help pulling up the radish, what a fun little story. These kids are so competitive and insist I pick the best team and I have such trouble doing it because they all try so hard and get soooo depressed if I don't pick their team!
Chris is another English teacher at my school from Chicago. He teaches the after school program but occasionally sits in on my classes. Today, he came to help with the role-plays. After class, one of the girls came up to me and asked, "Is he your man friend?" pointing at Chris. I giggled and told her "no". Then she asked, "Oh is he your brother?", I said "no he is just another teacher". Making a heart with her hands and pointing at Chris saying "him". I said, "Are you asking me if I love him" and she giggled then covered her face. This is typical of kids, they will say something and then cover their face from embarrassment. Anyways, she continues to tell me that she has a brother who is 23; she got that across using her hands and then making a heart again with her hands and saying "my brother". Moral of the story, I think she was trying to be little miss matchmaker. It was pretty cute!
I must say it is a rewarding and awesome experience being all wrapped up and about!
Those little darling kids! I bet they are chatty little gossip's! Tee Hee! Just like the rest of us!!
