One semester down, one to go!

Yesterday was the last day in the first semester, which means we have arrived at the half way point. Sometimes I think wow this experience is going by really fast and other times I feel like we have been here forever! Just depends on the day! The students got out at 10:30 and all the teachers (well most of the teachers, those who paid the membership fee of 20,000 won) loaded on a tour bus and headed on a trip to Tongyeong City. Tongyeong is about a 2.5 hour bus ride from Busan! Getting on the bus they provided us with a bag of snacks consisting of dried squid tentacles, a mini Kit-Kat bar, cookies and some breathe mints. I think they were thinking for those who choose to eat the squid, which was not me! I really had no idea what was ahead on the days adventure. My co-teacher told me something about a museum and that we would be having raw fish for dinner and that is all I knew and I know better now than to ask too many questions! Our first stop was the Korean Gas Corporation. I thought we were just eating lunch at their public cafeteria but we ended up touring the whole plant. I guess it could have been interesting other than everything was in Korean.
The next stop was the Tongyeong OttChil Art Museum. It is the first in Korea, the OttChil Art Museum allows you to appreciate works of Tongyeong's unbroken inlaid lacquer ware tradition of over 400 years and OttChil painters works from home and abroad and experience the Ottchil culture of 1,000 years of mystery. They also use the lining of oyster shells which gives this art a really unique look.

Here is an example of OttChil artwork.
The next stop was Hallyeosudo view cable car. We rode the cable car to the to the top
but sadly it was so foggy we could not see anything! Here we are at the top!
My co-teachers.
Art walk of wall paintings.
We ended the day with dinner at a raw fish restaurant. Tongyeong city is famous for their oysters. I ended up just eating soup which I am growing to like more and more
