Justin and I volunteered at Sung Ae Won Orphanage in Busan last weekend. We were pleasantly surprised how well taken care of these children seem to be and how clean the facility was. Every little girl had her hair done and had her toes and nails painted. They were all in cute little outfits and in good spirits!
We brought stickers, markers and paper to entertain the kids with and they just loved it. They kept themselves busy for 2 hours. When we walked in the door with little black bags from the stationary store they knew and came running up to us grabbing our bags. It was a great ice breaker!
The coordinator told us to pick one room to stay in for the afternoon so we could spend some quality time with those kids. We ended up in the girls room ages 3-5. They were a lot of fun. I think it is so cute how they always draw side ponytails with bows in their hair!
This girl was probably the oldest and she spoke decent English. I think that may be a picture of Justin and I but I am not sure.
We decided we would take this little one home no problem. She was just the sweetest thing and just plopped right down in my lap. She kept saying "hello", and "hi" to us. We said smile and she put up her peace sign. So cute!
Hard at work! I think that Korean children in general are pretty good artists.
Goofy girl!
After we left the orphanage I saw this picture advertising for a photography studio. Is he the cutest thing or what with that little tie on???
Hey, great pics! I hope you don't mind a random stranger commenting here! I live in Busan, too, and I'm trying to figure out how to volunteer at this orphanage. How did you guys do it? Who did you contact? I'd appreciate any info, thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi There! I was adopted from this orphanage in 1981 (abandoned there) and am desperately searching for any information they have for me, but I can't find a website or any contact information for this orphanage. If you have any information please email me ;)
