Summer is in full swing over here! It has been HOT, HOT the past month or so. I don't think that Justin and I will ever adapt to this humidity! This is the first time in my life I have had upper lip sweat and sweat running down my legs from the back of my knees. Seriously, we are constantly sweating! It has been in the 80's but the humidity is anywhere from 60-85%. The beach is about a 5 min walk for us which is nice and it just keeps getting more packed each weekend.
However, we won't be cooling off in this body of water! Do you notice the color? Brown as brown can be! People do swim in it though. My co-teachers daughter went swimming here last week and now she has a lung infection, I am sure it's due to this nasty water!
It looks like a huge camp ground down on the beach. I think everyone besides Justin and I had a tent set up. I am starting to understand why! Do you see they have a tent over their tent. That is some serious sun protection!
One thing that I was getting a kick out of is people cooking up ramen on the beach. They bring down their gas burner and a big pot and boil the water down on the beach. The more I thought about it the less crazy it seems. I guess we bring down the BBQ and hot dogs, hamburgers and all the fixing, that actually seems like more work. It is fun to notice these kinds of cultural differences.
