Mrs. Kim, Justin's co-teacher planned a trip for us to visit Goeje Island. It is an island that is located just off the coast of Busan. The plan was to take a ferry from Busan directly to Goeje but due to the high wind and big waves we ended up taking a van to an unknown destination and boarding a ferry from there. Dynamic Busan, you just never know what's going to happen! Our tour guide only spoke Korean but thankfully we had a sweet family on the tour that spoke decent English and filled us in on most of the happenings. When I say most, I mean there were times when they were all laughing and we had no idea what was going on. When we first got in the van they were all cracking up and we were clueless. Turns out she told us a little later they were laughing about the amount of luggage we had for one night. Between the 4 of us we had two regular size bags I would say. But between the 3 of them, they have one small backpack. When she told us, we got a kick out of that! We we were so happy to have them because without them we would have been in the clouds, it was a fun adventure. I kinda liked not really knowing what was going on and just rolling with it. Makes things more interesting!
Ferry to Goeje Island.
Our first stop on the tour was the birthplace of SK president Kim Yeong- Sam. He was president from 1993-1998.
When we arrive in Goeje it was super foggy! It was pretty funny because we continued to stop at all the places on the tour. Including some that I am sure would have probably been some amazing views but we could not see 2 feet out of the car. So we all ooh'ed and aww'ed at the fog instead.
Hotel room
Thank goodness for the one bbq'ed pork restaurant in the town we stayed in. The only other options were raw fish (yuck). We enjoyed the tasty pork! Dad was getting pretty handy with his chopsticks! After dinner, we headed to the beach to shot off some fireworks and drink some soju. We had a blast that night walking around the boardwalk and running into drunk Korean men.
Our hotel- Hawaii hotel
Views from Goeje.
Ferry to Oedo island.
Justin snapping away! He takes some great pictures!
Oedo Island! Odeo has been cultivated for over 30 years since 1963 by a couple. It is the first island in Korea ever to be owned and developed by and individual. The island surpassed my expectations. It was beautiful containing over 1,000 plant species.
The landscaping was remarkable!
We also visited numerous other locations on the tour such as the "Themed Museum". I would consider it to be a organized Goodwill and the POW camp which was really interesting.
